Beach hat

This piece is one of the typical Dominican handicrafts that has been made with ancestral techniques and inherited from generation to generation. The hats of these materials in past decades were mainly made with a utilitarian purpose for the work of the field, however, the evolution of rural areas to cities and the tourism boom in the Dominican Republic have contributed to create striking and useful designs for tourists and the national who likes to spend a pleasant day on the warm Caribbean beaches of the country.

The raw material used is the palm leaf (Sabal umbraculifera) with vegetable and mineral tinctures such as indigo when it shows a colorful design.
