Marchanta mounted on donkey

Piece inspired by a picture of everyday life that can still be seen in cities like Santiago but that have a greater presence in rural areas of the country. The marchantas (street vendors) generally offer items and products needed in the daily life of the Dominican household that can be fruits and vegetables, flowers, utensils and typical sweets that they usually make (guanimos, grated coconut, jalao, rapadura, cut milk, canquiña, among others).

This piece has been handcrafted using banana fibers, scraps of recycled fabric and typical Dominican craftsmanship.
