Footprint and Memory

Huella y Memoria offers the scenario of when Eduardo León Jimenes establishes his cigar factory in Santiago de los Caballeros, a city that reigned as the heart of Dominican tobacco. This important function, as well as the modern urban flowering that leads to the industrial reorientation of the tobacco industry, led to the decision of the young businessman to move it from the countryside to the city. This fact allows him to meet Maria Asencio Córdova (Mayún), elect queen of the arrival of the electric light to Santiago (1915), with whom she marries.
