The rupture implies the necessity that was and is still produced in art and in our artists when reaching a fissure that allows them to go beyond the evidence of what must be art according to the academy and established by the historiography of universal art. For the Dominican artists represented in this area, it is intended to overcome the common topics and places in order to conquer other spaces of knowledge through the visual arts. Thus, different artists, including Fernando Peña Defillo, Ivan Tovar and Soucy de Pellerano pose a break with traditional canons, declaring their formal and conceptual autonomy while questioning from their practice the craft of art itself. In this way, Pedro Terreiro, Gerard Ellis and Pascal Meccariello transcend with their works the traditional discourses and establish new ways of artistic work.
