Workshops LAB @ CENTROLEÓN

After the educational visit, 45-minute workshops are offered, which encourage exploration, creativity and critical thinking of the students. After visiting the exhibition rooms, the participants, together with an artist-educator, explore various ideas and themes highlighted in the exhibitions and carry out through various means to carry out an art project (painting, sculpture, screen printing, collage, sculpture with recycled materials or facilities). These workshops are appropriate to the curricular needs of the teacher and school groups.

3D Objects

Description:

It consists of taking a tour of the Identity Signs room where the participants will be motivated to recognize some of the elements that make up the Dominican culture, and part of the history of the peoples that preceded us. Customs, beliefs, as well as, the resulting mixture from the arrival of Spaniards and Africans to our island. Among the cultural aspects, elements of the heritage, both tangible and intangible, of Dominican culture will be highlighted: ceramic objects, cave paintings, dances and rhythms inherited and built on Creole soil, objects and customs such as traditional games, dealers, crafts, among other things. .

 

After making the tour in the room, participants will go to the Creative Workshop in order to experiment creating three-dimensional objects, in this case the confection of chichiguas or comets. 

Objectives:

Know some of the popular Dominican games.

Disseminate the tangible and intangible heritage in order to strengthen the Dominican cultural identity and the feeling of pride in it.

Move from theoretical knowledge to experienced knowledge.

Develop imagination, creativity, critical thinking and other cognitive skills transferable to other spheres of life.

Work methodology:

Visit to the anthropology room Identity Signs. Visit the market reproduced in the field of Life and Nation: Unity in diversity, and emphasize traditional Dominican games. (35 minutes).

Use principles of the Piensa en Arte methodology; Based on open and interactive questions, encourage the development of critical thinking and the desire for inquiry and exploration in the participants.

Go to the Creative Workshop for making chichiguas.
