Effigy vessel with flat base and reddish color. Presents an anthropozoomorphic female figure with details of shoulder blades, spine, eyebrows protruding from the ears and outgoing nose with holes in nostrils. The piece presents female sexual organs and breasts, which refers to practices linked to fertility within the Taino society.
This piece belongs to the Ostionoide ceramic tradition in which there is a preference for uniform and colored surfaces of red. To achieve this, most of the time clay of that color was used that was also used to make the containers; Sometimes black smoked bands appear on these red surfaces. The vessels were burned or cooked under an atmosphere of intense fire.
