The image shows a rural house in Neiba, a municipality located in the province of Bahoruco, in the southern part of the Dominican Republic. The house is built with the technique of tejemaní and roof of gray leaves, elements that are frequent in the Dominican vernacular arquitectrua. In the foreground three goats are observed and in the background, vegetation typical of the area.
Tejemaní is a construction technique used mainly in rural areas that consists of weaving branches, boards or thin cuts of wood to create the walls of homes. In some cases the tejemaní is covered with a mud cloth and painted with a layer of lime.
